Promote Social Cohesion
A Social Cohesion Program designed to foster unity, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging among diverse groups within a community or society. These programs aim to reduce social tensions, promote inclusive dialogue, and strengthen relationships across ethnic, cultural, religious, or socio-economic divides.
Rakhine State, located in western Myanmar, has long been a focal point of ethnic, religious, and political tensions. Home to diverse communities—including Rakhine Buddhists, Rohingya Muslims, and other ethnic minorities—this region has experienced recurrent cycles of violence, displacement, and mistrust.
Our Social Cohesion Program responds to these challenges by fostering shared values, inclusive identities, and collaborative problem-solving. This program aligns with national peace and reconciliation efforts, humanitarian response plans, and international frameworks on human rights, inclusion, and sustainable development.
Goal: To promote inclusive, resilient and peaceful communities by strengthening relationships among diverse groups, enhancing trust in institutions, and enabling collective action for common goals.
Target communities: Conflict-affected communities including returnees, IDPs, youth and adolescents, women and girls, community leaders and elders, local CSOs, educators and schools, local authorities, media actors, religious institutions, private sector and livelihood groups.
